Fender – removal and installation

1. Raise the vehicle, support it securely on jackstands and remove the front wheel.

2. Remove the antenna if required (see Chassis electrical system).

3. Remove the headlight (see Chassis electrical system).

4. With the door open, remove the top rear-most fender bolt (see illustration).

5. Remove the front bumper fascia (Bumpers – removal and installation).

6. Remove the front wheel opening molding if one is installed.

7. Remove the inner fender splash shield (see illustration).

8. Remove the two bolts from the lower rear part of the fender (see illustration 14.7).

9. Working inside the wheel opening, remove the bolts from the center rear part of the fender (see illustration) and the front mounting bracket.

10. On models with fender-mounted batter­ies, remove the battery and the battery tray (see Engine electrical systems).

11. Remove the four bolts from the top inner edge of the fender (see illustration).

12. Detach the fender. It’s a good idea to have an assistant support the fender while it’s being moved away from the vehicle to prevent damage to the surrounding body panels.

13. Installation is the reverse of removal.
