Shift linkage adjustment (manual shift models)

1. Move the shift lever into the 2H position.

2. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands.

3. Loosen the shift-rod lock bolt at the trunnion.

4. Check the fit of the shift rod in the trunnion. Make sure it doesn’t bind in the trun­nion.

5. Verify that the transfer case range lever is in the 2H position. The 2H position on the transfer case shift arm is the second position from full forward.

6. Align the adjustment locating hole on the lower shifter lever with the adjustment chan­nel located on the shifter bracket assembly.

7. Insert a drill bit with the correct diameter through the adjustment channel and into the locating hole to lock the shifter in position.

8. Tighten the shift-rod lock bolt to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.

9. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle.
