Throttle body – removal and installation

Removal

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).

2. Remove the air inlet tube.

3. Disconnect the wiring harness from the throttle body.

4. Disconnect any vacuum lines from the throttle body.

5. Remove the four mounting bolts and remove the throttle body (see illustration).

11.5 To remove the throttle body, disconnect the electrical connector, label all vacuum lines connected to the throttle body and disconnect them, then remove the throttle body mounting bolts (4.7L V8 engine shown)

Installation

6. Thoroughly clean all sealing surfaces.

7. Inspect the gasket/O-ring and replace it if necessary.

8. Install the throttle body and tighten the bolts finger tight, then tighten them with a torque wrench in a criss-cross pattern to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.

9.  The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.

10. On 5.7L Hemi engines, take the vehicle to a dealer or other qualified service center that has the appropriate scan tool and have them perform the ETC Relearn function.
