Diesel engine

This part of Chapter 2 is devoted to in-vehicle repair procedures for the 6.7L Cummins inline six-cylinder diesel engine. Information concerning engine removal and installation and engine overhaul can be found in Part E of this Chapter.

Since the repair procedures included in this Part are based on the assumption that the engine is still installed in the vehicle, if they are being used during a complete engine overhaul (with the engine already out of the vehicle and on a stand) many of the steps included here will not apply.

The 6.7L diesel engine is of an extremely rugged, proven design, incorporating a turbocharger and intercooler for efficient power production and low-end torque for all towing applications, when kept in its proper operating rpm range.
