Front driveaxie oil seal (independent front suspension) – removal and installation

1. Remove the driveaxle (Driveaxle (4WD models with independent front suspension) – removal and installation).

2. Pry the oil seal out of the end of the axle housing with a seal removal tool.

3. Apply high-temperature grease to the oil seal recess and tap the new seal evenly into place with a hammer and seal driver, so the lips are facing in and the metal face is visible from the end of the axle housing. When cor­rectly installed, the face of the oil seal should be flush with the end of the axle housing.

4. Lubricate the lips of the seal with multi­purpose grease, then install the driveaxle (Driveaxle (4WD models with independent front suspension) – removal and installation).

5. Check the front differential lubricant level, adding as necessary (see Tune-up and routine maintenance).
