Windshield wiper motor – replacement

1. Disconnect the cable (s) from the negative battery terminal(s) (see Engine electrical systems).

2. Make sure that the wipers are in the Park position.

3. Mark the positions of the wiper blades on the windshield using tape or a marker.

4. Pivot each wiper arm to lock it in its Up position, then remove the plastic nut cap (see illustration).

5. Remove the arm retaining nut.

6. Rock the wiper arm up and down to break it free from the shaft, then lift off the arm.

7. Remove the cowl cover (see Body).

8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the windshield wiper motor (see illustration).

9. Remove the nut and separate the motor’s arm from its output shaft (see illustration). Note: Leave the arm and the linkage mechanism in the cowl.

10. Remove the windshield wiper motor mounting screws (see illustration), then maneuver it from under the linkage bracket and out of the cowl.

11. Installation is the reverse of removal.
