Key lock cylinder and ignition switch – replacement
Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disarm the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (Airbag system – general information). Do not use a memory-saving device to preserve the PCM’s memory when working on or near airbag system components.
1. The models covered by this manual are not equipped with conventional ignition switches. Instead, they have a Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) that senses when the ignition key is near.
2. The WIN module can be easily replaced, but diagnosis requires scan tools and complex procedures. Also, a replacement WIN module must be programmed to the vehicle and to the keys. These procedures are beyond the scope of this manual.
