Body
These models feature a body-on-frame construction. The frame is a ladder-type, consisting of two box sectioned steel side rails joined by crossmembers. The crossmembers are welded to the side rails, with the exception of the transmission crossmember, which is bolted in place for easy removal.
Certain components are particularly vulnerable to accident damage and can be unbolted and repaired or replaced. Among these parts are the body moldings, bumpers, hood, fenders, doors, tailgate and all glass.
Only general body maintenance practices and body panel repair procedures within the scope of the do-it-yourselfer are included in this Chapter.
