Headlight housing – removal and installation
1. Remove the six push-pin clips, then remove the plastic shield from the top of the radiator.
2. Remove the top headlight mounting screw (see illustration).
15.2 Remove the radiator top cover for access to the upper screw (A), then use a magnetic socket with a long extension to remove the vertical screw (B) – other components removed here for clarity
3. Remove the lower headlight mounting screw by reaching a socket and extension vertically between the grille and the radiator core support structure (see illustration 15.2). Note: The screw must not be dropped after it’s unscrewed so you’ll have to use a magnetic socket If you don’t have one, put some sticky substance such as butyl windshield adhesive or silicone adhesive into the socket to hold the screw
4. Release the bottom of the tab at the lower section of the access panel to the wheel well splash shield (see illustration).
15.4 Open this access door to reach the headlight slide lock
5. Working through the opening in the wheel well splash shield, move the slide lock upward to disengage it from the rear of the headlight housing (see illustration).
15.5 Slide this lock upward to release the headlight housing
6. Pull the headlight toward the front of the vehicle to pop it loose from the plastic retainer (see illustration).
15.6 The ball (A) will pop out of socket (B) when the headlight is pulled forward
7. Disconnect the wiring harnesses from the headlight, then remove it (see illustration).
15.7 Disconnect the wiring harnesses from the rear of the headlight housing (arrow indicates the headlight adjustment screw)
8. Installation is the reverse of removal.
