Door trim panels – removal and installation
1. On manual window models, remove the window crank (see illustration).
15.1 Remove the retaining clip, then detach the window crank handle. A hooked tool like this can be used, but special window crank clip removal tools are available at auto parts stores, and make this step much easier
2. On power window models, use a plastic trim tool or a screwdriver wrapped with tape to pry up the switch from the top of the armrest, if so equipped (see illustration). Disconnect the switch (see illustration).
15.2a Use a soft plastic tool like this to pry up the rear of the power window switch assembly …
15.2b … then disconnect the wiring and remove it
3. On front doors, use the tool to remove the panel from the inside of the mirror (see illustration). On rear doors, use it to remove the trim panel from the upper rear section of the door.
15.3 Carefully pry up the inner mirror trim panel to avoid scratches
4. Remove the screw and the inside door handle trim plate (see illustration).
15.4 There is a concealed screw under the inside door handle
5. Remove the plastic screws/push-pins from the outer door trim panel (see illustrations).
15.5a Locations of the outer door panel fasteners
15.5b The outer door panel fasteners can be removed with a screwdriver, then pushed back into place later
6. Pull upward to release the door panel hooks from the door. The door panel must also clear the top of the door lock button.
7. Once all of the hooks are disengaged, raise the trim panel up and off the door (see illustration). Disconnect any wiring harness connectors and remove the trim panel from the vehicle.
15.7 Lift the door trim panel straight upwards to release the clips – don’t try to pry it off
8. Connect the wiring harness connectors and place the panel in position on the door.
Press the trim panel straight against the door until the clips on the trim panel align with all the holes in the door, then push down on the panel until the clips are seated.
9. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
