Door – removal, installation and adjustment
1. Remove the door trim panel (Door trim panels – removal and installation). Disconnect any electrical connectors and push them through the door opening so they won’t interfere with door removal. Leave the wiring harness boot attached to the body but disconnected from the door.
2. Place a jack under the door or have an assistant on hand to support it when the hinge bolts are removed. Note: If a jack is used, place rags between it and the door to protect the door’s painted surfaces.
3. Scribe around the mounting bolt/nut heads and hinges with a marking pen, remove the fasteners and carefully lift off the door (see illustration).
16.3 Mark their locations, then remove the door retaining bolt and nut at each hinge
4. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Align the hinge with the marks made during removal before tightening the bolts.
5. Following installation of the door, check the alignment and adjust the hinges, if necessary. Adjust the door latch striker, centering it in the door latch (see illustration).
16.5 The latch striker on the door jamb can be adjusted slightly up/down or in/out
6. Rear doors are removed and installed as described above for front doors, except that the door is attached to the body B pillar.
